Yes, edging does help and it certainly develops a bigger load too. However, perhaps the best way is to develop the pelvic floor muscles,..ie the muscles which youcan tighten to stop the flow when you are 'taking a leak'. some authorities call this the 'PC' muscle others call it the 'BC' muscle and in female terms it's known as the 'Kegle' excercise. Essentially, these are all the same and they are the muscles which spasm and twitch the penis as it orgasms and thus actually ejaculate the semen,..so strengthening them helps you to shoot more efficiently.
Once the muscles are strong, you can use them in lots of useful ways when having intercourse or self-pleasureing. If you clamp the muscles as you shoot, this alone will make the jets more powerful.
These muscle excercises are a generally good thing for lots or reasons and there is evidence that they help to equalise your energy up your spine and this is whole other aspect which is the interest of the Taoist doctrine and was researched by the ancient Chinese.
Apparently, when you see porn stars shoot powerfully it's because of nutritional supplements that they take to increse the load, but ALSO, it's due to good control of the pelvic floor muscles.
Some authorities suggest that the force of ejaculation lessens as one gets older but although I'm getting on in years I can still shoot a couple of feet on a good day when I'm properly excited and stimulated. I've been doing the excercises for about 20 years. Sometimes I don't ejaculate if I don't feel a strong need and just continue to have sex/pleasure for as long as I wish or until I feel a glowing satisfaction. As I have got older I'm not so locked into 'reaching a climax' and I much prefer it like that,...there are much more rich treasures to be found in sex than just getting off!
