For the rest-of-world guys and girls, the region is kinda awkwardly located ... its nature (singular) and commerce (sparse) means you don't too often find your wheels pointing in that direction unless maybe you have a specific purpose for going there ... like wanking with Mr B perhaps

That part of the country is flat, exposed, underpopulated, and its location is a little geographically out-of-the-way so it isn't really a transit-route either where you might pass-through on the way from one place to another ... it is coastal, and added to everything else that means you really only head there if you have a purpose. In fact if you are pointed there from anywhere and have been driving for six hours you have been in water for the past four! lol ....
Which doesn't mean it isn't an attractive place to go, quite the opposite and its character is only helped by the "Hick" kind of nature of the place ... little industry, mostly agricultural apart from tourist/vacation-trades etc as it is an area of some beauty .... though that beauty is of a particular type ... flat and low-lying land makes it a low water-table, so much is like wetlands in patches with habitats, flora and fauna appropriate to that. It draws visitors year round, though at this time of the year you need to be hardy, waterproof and nailed-down! lol
It is also a corridor for trucks to and from the ferries over to the Continent taking/bringing consumer goods, and is also a major route for driving/vacationing to the near countries - France, Belgium, Spain, Holland, Scandinavia - and the rest beyond.
