I'm a guy who has been jerking off an average of 2 or 3 times a day for the past 15 years (I'm 30), and I'm beginning to feel that it's taking over my life. I am married to a frigid woman and so my average is still 2 to 3 times a day and I spend a hell of a lot of time looking at online porn/going to adult video store booths, etc. I've jacked off in a train/on an airplane/in a bus/outdoors/every office I've worked in/at school/driving at 70 mph. I can come within a minute if I want to. I can also delay ejaculation and go on for half an hour. I can have 5 or 6 orgasms (muscular spasms) without ejaculating.

I want to learn techniques of reducing my frequency and want to try and get my mind off sex. My theory is that just like exercise makes your capacity for exercise increase, my frequent masturbation has made my capacity for orgasms and sex in general increase. This is not helping my life any since I spend a lot of time and money chasing orgasms. My being married to a woman who doesn't mind sleeping with me once a month does not help either especially when everything everywhere (tv, magazines,etc) around me screams SEX.

I saw a post a few days back about abstaining, and would like some ideas on how to do this and some moral support. Anybody else wants to join me on this sabbatical and see how long we can last without jerking off?

Your best bet is to make your body active, so I suggest excercising a lot (for example, when you feel the need to jack off, you can do 50 push-up's instead). You can do some jogging or sign up to the gym... Whenever your body has 'moved' a lot and you get tired, the urge to masturbate is lower. Good luck!

heres some tips for abstaining ive discovered

1. try and not be alone. you tend to masturbate when you've got alot of time with yourslef so try and send most of your time with people such as friends or family
2. as i get horny and feel the urge to touch myself when im in the bath or shower try and spend as little as 10 minutes in the shower or bath.
3. it is proven that when your bladder is full you feel hornier than when its not full so whenever you feel you need to use the bathroom... do it.
4. dont go looking on porn sites... i dont need to tell you why.
5. find a friend(s) who will abstain with you and together you can kee each other motivated to not feel the need to masturbate. spend as much time as you can with each other discussing how its going. motivation is the key.
6. always remember - if i dont masturbate today i'll have a day full of cum and a greater orgasm to unleash the next.
7. dont go to bed until your feeling really tired then you can just fall asleep easily and not get any ideas about masturbating.

One more successful day, though I have to admit I did rub my cock a little bit. But it was only a few minutes, and I did not do it until I came so I think this is acceptable. I've decided that when I do come next, it is going to be a big party. I did find a substitute activity (grand theft auto).
