For me its the level of excitement that determines the amount of precum I produce. Of course it helps if you are properly hydrated, so you should drink plenty of water well in advance of jacking off. Depending on the type of porn you like, or if you have a partner or buddy available, your excitement level should be quite high to produce precum if you have experienced difficulty in the past.

Very interesting subject. First as an answer to the original question - "is it different for everybody?" I think the answer is pretty obvious as you read all the posts.
I am probably as old or older than most who will be on here.
